Virginia has a new governor-elect, and his name is Glenn Youngkin.
This is a big deal for the Republican Party in that state, as well as for the GOP nationwide. It also has enormous ramifications for the Biden White House, as it is a harbinger of looming disaster for Democrats in the midterm elections… And it really all came down to one issue: education.
It turns out that a lot of Virginia’s parents didn’t particularly like being talked down to by Youngkin’s opponent (and the former Democrat Governor of Virginia), Terry McAuliffe.
An oleaginous creature of the DNC apparatus, McAuliffe pulled out every cheap, dirty trick he could to steal a last-minute victory… But it wasn’t enough. There were even folks posing (absurdly) as tiki-torch white nationalists at a Youngkin rally last week – an obvious smear… But it didn’t work.
It came down to schools, parents, and Critical Race Theory (“CRT”). All of McAuliffe’s instincts and moves on the education issue in the final weeks of the campaign were blunders.
McAuliffe chose to mock moms and dads who didn’t want their children to be taught CRT as “racists” themselves. During a debate with Youngkin, he said that parents shouldn’t get to tell schools what to teach their kids.
Slimy Terry came across as the elitist phony he is – a liberal who worships the teachers unions while sending his own children to the most expensive private school in the D.C. area.
The key demographic that swung against McAuliffe was suburban white moms. Many of them had turned against Republicans, particularly Donald Trump, in the 2020 election cycle. This helped propel Biden to finish over Trump with a 10-point lead in Virginia.
Now, many of those same affluent female voters decided to flip the script and come out strongly for Republican Youngkin because he promised to ban teaching CRT on his first day in office, among other education-reform proposals.
For the Biden administration, this is a gut punch… The president hasn’t been in office a full year yet, and his approval ratings have started to fall off the cliff. He’s underwater on a whole range of issues, including the border, the economy, and inflation.
Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and even former President Barack Obama came out to stump for McAuliffe, but it made no difference in the end. Biden’s support is flagging and his one signature issue – the “Build Back Better” plan – is mired in the muck of Congress.
And given the results in Virginia, that’s unlikely to change anytime soon. Democrats Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin are going to be even less likely to budge on the multitrillion-dollar spending package that the Biden White House is pinning its hopes on. The progressives in Congress who have used Biden as a Trojan horse to attempt their radical agenda may have to take a step back in favor of a more reality-based view.
If not, the Democrats are heading for a massive wipeout in the midterms… All indicators are pointing that way. Even the New Jersey governor’s race between Democrat Phil Murphy and Republican Jack Ciattarelli was closer than expected. When solid blue strongholds like the Garden State are too close for Democrats’ comfort, the alarm bells are ringing at DNC headquarters.
In the 2022 midterms, there’s very little margin for error for the Democrats. They’re going into it with a 50-50 tied Senate, and a razor-thin majority in the House of Representatives.
A new system shows which stocks could soon rise 100% thanks to a Connecticut couple’s catastrophic 401(k) loss.
The Democrat national brand right now is going to be a hindrance. Joe Biden seems increasingly inept and not up for the job… Pelosi has fumbled and stumbled with the massive reconciliation bill… And the momentum is firmly with their ideological opponents on the Right.
The school board rebellions of 2021 that began in places like Loudoun County, Virginia are what led in large part to the Youngkin victory in that state. Similar uprisings of concerned parents have occurred elsewhere as well.
In the aftermath of the Department of Justice letter from the Office of Attorney General Merrick Garland that threatened parents for the non-crime of speaking out at school board meetings, more and more moms and dads across America are mobilizing.
The backlash against CRT could well be the spark for a political movement that annihilates the Biden administration’s hopes to keep their congressional majorities.
And even more importantly, it could signal the beginning of a meaningful counter-revolution against the indoctrination of children for the benefit of the radical Left in our school system.
