Just when it seemed Americans were getting used to breathing fresh, free air without the stifling masks of Fauciism, there’s a push underway to bring back some aspects of the lockdown insanity.
The Delta variant of COVID-19 has spiked infections to around 51,000 per day, which is four times what they were a month ago.
For anyone who thought that the fights over masks and other so-called “mitigation measures” were over, this moment provides a rude awakening. One of the incentives for vaccination was the ability to ditch uncomfortable face coverings once and for all. But now, public health authorities are considering a massive backtrack.
Doctor Despot himself told a CNN anchor over the weekend that just because the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) aren’t mandating masks even for the vaccinated, it doesn’t mean that you’re going to be free from other forms of mask coercion:
Jake Tapper: Sources are telling CNN the top health officials are weighing whether to revise mask guidelines for vaccinated Americans. Are you part of those conversations? If so, what are you advising? Do you think masks should be brought back for vaccinated Americans?
Anthony Fauci: You know, Jake, this is under active consideration. If you’re asking, am I part of the discussion? Yes, I am part of the discussion. But I think what you are seeing – even though as of our conversation at this moment, the CDC still says and recommends that if you are vaccinated fully, you do not need to wear a mask indoors. However, if you look at what’s going on locally in the trenches, in places like L.A. County, the local officials have the discretion and the CDC agrees with that ability and discretion to say, you know, you’re in a situation where we’re having a lot of dynamics of infection. Even if you are vaccinated, you should wear a mask. That’s a local decision.
What Fauci is describing here is part of a broader strategy to enact restrictions through third parties. Lockdowners and mask devotees (overwhelmingly Democrats) are hoping to push as many people as possible into masking without enacting a federal mandate or reversing the CDC guidance.
This former Goldman Sachs banker urges you to take these four vital steps right now to preserve your family’s wealth while you still can.
Sometimes it’s couched in the language of “suggestion,” but the goal of the Fauciites remains clear: to get as many people as possible to mask their faces again – or instead face harassment until they comply.
This has resulted in a number of major metropolitan areas like Los Angeles and St. Louis enacting official mask mandates again. San Mateo is the first county in the Bay Area of California to bring back forced face coverings. New Orleans has an “advisory” in place for mask-wearing, in the hopes that private sector businesses will choose to force masks on customers. Other cities may soon follow.
None of them seem to care that data proving the effectiveness of masks is astonishingly hard to come by – perhaps because it doesn’t exist. But the increasingly authoritarian “public health expert” apparatus in control isn’t done with us yet.
Back in May, I wrote about a growing phenomenon: forever maskers – fully vaccinated adults who continue to mask up even outside because they are either ignoring the science or are making a political statement.
Now, the Delta variant has brought about yet another moment of panic, and the core of Faucciism is to go for COVID safety theatrics in place of actions taken in response to data.
The American Academy of Pediatrics also just updated its guidelines for opening schools in fall 2021, including the recommendation that “everyone older than age 2 wear masks, regardless of vaccination status.”
Whatever happened to “get the shot, get your freedom back”? Turns out, like so many components of our response to COVID-19, that was subject to change the moment the case numbers (and political winds) shifted.
At this moment, it looks as though the vaccine is not as useful in shutting down the Delta variant as was hoped. The shortfall in efficacy already has Fauci, among others, raising the possibility that booster shots will be needed – sooner rather than later.
On the one hand, the Biden administration and the Democrat-aligned media are doing everything in their power to get a vaccine into the arm of every single American. On the other, they seem desperate to avoid answering questions that will complicate the public messaging from the Biden White House.
I’m not sure if you remember books, America, but it’s what people used to sink their faces into to avoid dealing with family and strangers. Our editor-in-chief, P.J. How long will the COVID vaccines be effective? Why isn’t natural immunity – the kind acquired through beating an actual infection – considered sufficient protection?
If “COVID zero” (the total eradication of the disease) is effectively impossible given current levels of vaccine protection, at what point will we just have to accept the disease as a manageable public health issue and go back to full normalcy?
Instead, we are told to shut up and get the shot… And the full blame for “vaccine hesitancy” is disingenuously heaped on Republicans and, more specifically, Trump supporters. This is creating a climate of distrust and acrimony that will likely linger long after the first round of vaccines’ effectiveness wears off.
It will not be possible to fully end the pandemic if we aren’t allowed to ask questions about what the end is supposed to look like.
